Playlist Choices

When I was working on making a new playlist, I was experimenting with new singers and such, so I had never previously listened to some of them. However, I am extremely pleased with the singers and their abilities. Of course, Joan Sutherland is familiar to me and I love to listen to her sing. Other than that, they are all relatively new to me.

The very first song, "Memory", is one of my very favorite songs ever from the musical 'Cats' (a musical I am not very fond of). Although the song is quite familiar to me (I hope to record and sing this song for you guys, when I have the technology and the guts), the voice of Susan Boyle added a different feel to the song. I still enjoy the original singer from the recorded movie, but it was the best one I have heard besides. She sings it with a crispness, giving prefect crescendos and decrescendos at just the right moments. I loved how clear her voice was, and how effortless it all seemed! The way she goes from low to high is beautiful. I discovered her on that CD I got for Christmas and I just had to share it with you guys! Besides those two exceptions, the rest were random discoveries that I just made today.

The one sung by.....umm, (have to look it up) Cecilia Bartoli (the song is called Agitata da due venti) is marvelous! It is just incredible! I LOVE it sooooo much!!! She sings it so perfectly! The jumps, the slides, and all of it with such energy! It is just....Wow! I admit they do take a while to start up, what with the intro music and stuff, but they are really worth the wait. Don't write them off just because they are opera; give them a chance! If you are really unsure about it, I recommend listening to Agitata da due venti first. It is a much more...cheerful? song than the others (I do not think cheerful is the right word as the very song itself is full of angry). Like, you can really hear the life and bounciness. Also, just to warn you, that song has very loud clapping at the very beginning and very end, so watch it with the volume. I admit opera is an acquired taste, but definitely worth it!

The horrible thing about most singers, is that they are usually snobby, rude, and, well....you know. They have so much incredible talent and they just...they wreck their lives and come out as--for lack of a better word--crazy people. I mean, for example, Cecilia Bartoli demeans herself in front of everyone by my making dirty jokes before her performances, forcing you to lose respect for her instantly. The one singer I can absolutely totally respect is Joan Sutherland. She was kind and very humble. She had a lot of respect for herself, something modern singers (and most singers throughout history) have lacked. I respect her mostly for that. She respects herself enough to not treat herself as horribly as Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and all of those other singers have. They are just....well, we won't  go into that. So, I feel like this 'writing blog' has turned more into a music blog. xD Oh well. Haha, write more later. :)
